Polycarp's Death

I mentioned the story last night about Polycarp, the 2nd century church leader in Smyrna, being put to death for his faith in Christ. By coincidence, my friend Tim Archer (who has just written a new book on Revelation called Letters From the Lamb) wrote about Polycarp's martyrdom in his blog today. Here's a link for any of you who are interested in learning more about the death of this man of God: http://networkedblogs.com/p18688258

I should have the "Sunday Notes" from yesterday up here a little later this morning.

Cathi and Cati Adams

Cathi Adams is feeling well enough today to send out an email. Her surgery Monday took eight hours and she has had a lot of post-surgical pain, but she says the pain is better today. A CT scan yesterday showed her back looked fine but caused some concern about something in her abdomen. A follow-up ultrasound today did not show anything wrong. It looks now as if she will be coming home Thursday.

Cati called home from Pennsylvania last night. She was ready to come home, which is very good news. She is now staying with some Christian friends of the Adamses in Pittsburgh. Andy and Melissa have flown to Pittsburgh today. They expect to return tomorrow, bringing Cati with them. Please keep all this family in your prayers that finally things will turn out in a good way for them.

Cards to Ruth Lake Wilkison

Ruth Lake is doing well, but she will be in the stroke rehabilitation program in Bellingham for several more days. It is requested that she not have visits or phone calls, but she would appreciate receiving cards. They can be mailed to her, care of:

We just had a report from Melissa Adams that her mom is doing pretty well today. Her surgeon has been in this morning and he is well pleased with Cathi's progress. If all continues to go well, she may be going home tomorrow. Keep her in your prayers.
