Updated Emergency Prayer Requests

This email came from Judy Hill:

 "I got a phone call from my sister-in-law, Donna Mackey, this morning asking for prayers...her son, Nathan, is having an emergency appendectomy today and she covets our prayers. Also another relative, Mike Provencher, got hit yesterday while bicycling. He has 4 broken vertebrae, a collapsed lung among other broken bones, cuts and abrasions. He's in ICU and the next 48 hours will be critical. His wife is Shirley and she really needs our prayers, too.

 

Donna will keep me updated and I will pass all news on to you. Please do lift up these precious men to our Lord in prayer this week."

 

Also we received an email this morning that Dr. William Woodson is seriously ill, on life support, and not able to communicate with his wife and family. Brother Woodson was a long time Bible professor at Freed-Hardeman and Lipscomb universities in Tennessee as well as a preacher and author. He is in his mid-to-late 70s and lives now in Lawrenceburg, TN.  He was diagnosed with cancer recently and was scheduled to begin chemotherapy. He needs our prayers.

Praise that my brother Davide got good news regarding his cancer. He'll have surgery in a few weeks which should take care of it.  Praise that Allen and Rentz had an enjoyable and safe motorcycle trip. Also praise that my sister-in-law, Donna is doing much better now. She lost my brother, Dwayne January 1st this year and has had a really tough time without him.  Happy Birthday to Allen tomorrow and Happy Anniversary to Rentz and Jean on Tuesday.   ... Judy Hill


A praise that Elmer [Juntenen] is here this morning.  Keep brother Elmer in mind as he grieves the loss of his beloved Martha.

August 22 Notes

Prayer Request Cards Turned In Today:

Please keep praying for Jim Gibbs and his family. His brain started bleeding a couple of days ago. They flew him down to UW where he is now.  But hopefully, with all our prayers he will get better soon.

Praise that Karee Blunt is recovering (from a MRSA infection in her leg). Thank you all for your prayers.

Congratulations to David & Andrea Brown with a new baby boy & a new brother for Isaac.

Pray for Bob and Wanda Sell. He is in Seattle and needs all the encouragement we can give them. Please send cards as it's hrd to reach her by phone.

Pray for Jon Hasenoehrl to understand God's will for him and his family.

Please pray for Judy Hill's sister-in-law, Linda Mackey, as her dad passed away last evening. Her family, the Ortizes, need our prayers too.  Also please continue to remember Andrew Hill in your prayers.

From Cathi Adams:  "Thank you for praying for my mom, her MRI was normal - no new tumors or signs of cancer!  Thank you, Lord.  Also, Andrew is traveling back to Oklahoma Christian next Saturday to start his junior year.  Pray for a safe trip and a very successful and blessed year in his work."

FAITH FAMILY FINANCIAL SEMINAR.  Space is available for 7 couples to meet on four Thursdays in October from 7-8:30 p.m. We will work through actually creating a budget, creating individual plans to become debt free, and learning how to manage family stewarship planning. ONE DAY VBS is next Saturday, August 28.  See Millissa Macomber if you want to be a last minute volunteer. Help is still needed.

Bob Sells

Bob and Wanda Sells attended SVCoC in the past. Here is a note from Wanda about a serious health problem Bob is experiencing. She requests our prayers for him:

Bob suffered a heart attack this Saturday three weeks ago and the following Monday he had a stroke, he was at Skagit Hospital for five days then they transferred him to Swedish where he is now.   They just transferred him to Rehab and today just started working with him.  He is paralized on his left side since his stroke was on the left.  He can move some of his left arm and has not been able to move his left leg.  They have high hopes for him and so do I he is a very determined man when he sets his mind.

Results of the heart attack is congestive heart failure so he will be put on a special diet.  I am staying in Seattle in order to be close with him, Please pray for Bob, my thanks to you all.

Devotional and Game Night

Everyone remember the Devotional and Game Night Saturday night starting at 6 p.m. at the church building. This is hosted by the Young Adult Group, but everyone is invited. Eat dinner before you come, but bring snacks and your favorite board games, card games, etc.

Sunday August 8 Updates

Funeral services for Martha Juntenen will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hawthorne Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.  Please remember Elmer and his family in your prayers.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

• Pray for safe travels for David Picinich and healing for Casey Picinich as she recuperates from surgery.
• Pray for a safe and fulfilling trip for camp kids coming to Salk River Camp this week.
• Pray for Karee Blunt that he back will heal quickly.
• Please pray for Andrew as he is incarcerated, that he will trust in God for his future and truly be able to turn his life around.
• Please pray for those who are sick and for those who are traveling. Also keep in your prayers all the mothers, many of whom have asked prayers for grace, peace, and wisdom.

Martha Juntenen

We are saddened to report the death of Martha Juntenen, a long-time member of the Skagit Valley church. She passed away Wednesday morning. Funeral arrangements are not known at this time. Our condolences go to brother Elmer and all the rest of her family.

Sunday, August 1 - Notes & Prayer Requests

Please pray for Cati Adams as she's been at Urgent Care all morning with a gall bladder/gallstone attack. Also please pray for Joyce and Carol as they fly home to Texas on Wednesday.  And please hold Andrew up in prayer this next couple of months as he carries through with decisions he has made. Please pray for Martha Juntenen who is on hospice care and nearing the end of her life. Also pray for Elmer as he wants to do whatever he can for her.

Casey Picinich is recovering from surgery and feeling better every day.  However, her grandmother passed away on Friday. The funeral is today in Mississippi.  Casey was unable to travel to go to the funeral. Please pray for Casey and her family.    

Pray for Dave & Andrea Brown -- their baby is due any time.  Also Dave had an expensive chainsaw stolen from their house. Pray that it is recovered and returned to him soon.   ...John Williamson
