October 9 News and Notes

It was great to have brothers and sisters from Skagit Valley, Mount Vernon, and Anacortes congregations joining together in number to praise the Lord in song this afternoon at the Mount Vernon building. The next singing will be the 2nd Sunday in December and will be hosted by the Anacortes church ... they will decide whether to host it in their building or here in Burlington.

From this morning's cards-turned-in for prayer requests and announcements:

  • Please continue to pray for my Dad -- for his health in all aspects and that he will feel God's kindness. Thank you -- Karla.
  • Samantha Tompson is in Children's Hospital in Seattle fighting leukemia. She is Jud and Candy's niece and is 17 years old.
  • Adam got accepted to take the next part of the test for the job he is applying for. Please pray that he will do good and get the job. Thank you.  -- Candan
  • Please pray for my sister-in-law, Kim Mackey, as she awaits a liver transplant. Also my sister-in-law, Donna Mackey, as she heals from two hip replacements in the past month. Please remember our elderly, especially those who can't be with us, such as Elmer and Jean.  -- Judy Hill
  • Praise for the safe return of Judy Hill and the Gaineses, and all who have been traveling. -- Allen
  • One of my professors reccommended me for a year-long internship with a church in Oklahoma to work with the teens under the guidance of the youth minister. Hopefully, sometime this week I will have a Skype interview to talk with the youth minister. This is a big step where I would receive a lot of experience. Pray that I get the internship.  ...Andrew Adams

September 25 Notes

Congratulations to Jim and Ruth Lake Wilkison, who will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Tuesday.

"Thank you for praying for my mom - her blood pressure is under control and she is here with us today.  Pray for Andrew - he is home sick with a bad headache and he has had problems this week with pain in his lungs and chest, from the injuries he had in the accident."  ...Cathi Adams

Pray for safe travels this week for Judy Hill, her mom and aunt, as they travel to Oklahoma on Monday.  Also Tom Fair, who will be driving home from Ohio, and for John and Trish Gaines who will be flying to Tennessee on Wednesday and traveling on to Florida later in the week.  John will be preaching October 2-5 in Pensacola, Florida. Pray for the success of that Gospel Meeting.

Also, please continue to remember Jamie Brisky, Al Green, and others who are dealing with ongoing serious health problems.

Update about Andrew and Melissa

Andrew Adams has made some improvement. He is still in ICU in Ogden, UT, but is alert (when medication wears off enough to allow it) and breathing on his own.  He is able to move his legs and arms. Melissa is hospitalized in Salt Lake City. She has been in a lot of pain and has pretty severe swelling, but her overall condition is good and doctors are hopeful that she will be well enough to be released from the hospital by the weekend.  Regular updates are being posted on a Facebook page devoted to Andrew and Melissa:

Andrew & Melissa Adams

We do not have details at the present time, but have learned that Andrew and Melissa Adams were involved in a serious car accident today. They were traveling to Oklahoma where Andrew was returning for his senior year at Oklahoma Christian University. Melissa was accompanying her brother on the trip, then was going to fly back home. More details will be posted when they are available, but please remember Andrew and Melissa, as well as their parents, Andy & Cathi, in your prayers.
